After 2012, many wondered if Showdown would ever go back to the way it was before joining with Anime Matsuri. Those questions would be answered as original co-founder Javier Moreno made his return . As a result, the three most fundamental changes were the most profound: 1. The event went back to being called "Texas Showdown". 2. Showdown went back to being its own separate event, catering only to the FGC. 3. The event again resides in the city of Houston, not a suburb. The result was a dramatic increase in popularity and attendance as Texas Showdown rebooted itself back to being the premier event in the Southwest.
